Vienna, Vienna

After the jewish bourgeoisie has to leave here because of antisemitism, there was another society here. The cultural life in Vienna at the end of the 19th century was influenced by many jewish intellectuals here.

PROMINENT VIENNESE JEWish artist and intellectuals of fin de siecle
Gustav Mahler 1860-1911
Sigmund Freud 1856-1939
Ludwig Wittgenstein 1889-1951
Arthur Schnitzler 1862-1931
Stefan Zweig 1881-1942
Arnold Schoenberg 1874-1951
Theodor Herzl 1860-1904

Unfortunately antisemitic thought is still alive here. Also a very arrogant way of thinking about culture. To say we are a "Kulturnation" and the others are "Naturvoelker", shows the hierarchy of thinking in my view. If you bring the categories of culture and nature in such a way in opposition, then the other will think about you; you have a problem with nature (maybe you don´t have enough resources to live) and you have a problem with other cultures. You try to be superior through culture and in reality you don´t have enough natural resources to live without exploiting the nature and the other cultures. O.k. the problem is not only Viennese but I don´t understand, how people can believe the other is sooo stupid....
