Born in January: Konrad Adenauer
Konrad Adenauer is a very well known Politician. I didn't know his difficulties with Nazis. Though he was a right wing politician, he was obviously not fascist enough for them. I must read more about this case. His life as a politician and how deep masses can go, is interesting.
Nazis have taken away him everything.
He has looked for aid from the church and he was saved by a communist from the deportation.:-)

A turkish writer: H.E.A. (1884-1964)
Halide Edip Adivar was one of the few Turkish women writers before the foundation of the Republic. She has died on the 9th of January in 1964 in Istanbul.
I must say, until now I haven t read anything from her. Because she was the writer of older generations. But now I am curious. She has lived in a time when also Yakup Kadri has lived. And I read Yakup Kadri and I like him. Especially 'Yaban' is a Classic.
