French Occupation in Istanbul

Yes! Istanbul was under French and English occupation (right now like Bagdad) at the beginning of the 20th Century. And the book above is about the ' Turkish Novel by the time of occupation.' It is a really interesting book. I have read this book 3 years ago, I think...And I have found the book again when I was cleaning my room. To tidy my room is a special occasion to me...I do something like this in 15 years or alike...:-)
I have also a story from this time. From my grandmother. Maybe I will edit this story later...
My grandmother was a young woman by the occupation of Istanbul and she didn t forget that she was maltreated by a French Officier. My grandmother was an uneducated woman. And this French Officier was the only one that she has seen in her life, so she didn t believe me (it is not a joke!) that French are not black. The Officier was from a colony of France, so he was black. And my grandmo thought that all French people are black. I have to laugh thinking of this old story.
Many young Europeans are thinking that Europa is no more colonialist. But this is not true. France was definitely interested through the history to have power in the Middle East.
  • Sykes-Picot_Agreement
  • (it was a confidential aggreement and it was Lenin who releases a copy of this Agreement as well as other treaties causing great embarrassment among the allies and growing distrust among the Arabs.)

And when they are now criticising the English and American for being colonialist, because they are upset not to be able doing this by their own. :-)
