20 Ocak and Hrat Dink

When I was zapping through the channels on the TV after the assasination of Hrat Dink, a journalist of Armenian Community in Istanbul and the chief editor of weekly newspaper Agos, I have seen something which I couldn t understand at first. I was concentrated on the news about Hrat Dink and was eager to know more about his assasination and I didn't realize that I am 'in' Azerbaycan. (I don t know the english word but u will understand what I mean)
19th and 20th of January 1990 is important to Azerbaycan people, because Russia has invaded Azerbaycan on these days with excuse of protecting the armenians there.
Thus Russia has used minorities there for his own benefits, as Europe has done this over centuries in the Ottoman Empire. Even after the arousing of Turkish Republic in 1923 they didn t give up this racist identity politics.
In the 16th century Europeans were aware of their disability for living together with differences. Thus European philosophers have always tried to improve their system of living together with different people until now. But they have done this on their own way. Because their system was a system of small political entities and each entitiy was in fight with another. Ofcourse they wanted to have stability and peace in their region, but at the same time they were under thread of other societies who already had succeeded to build greater political entities with different people. Thus they tried to make out of 'big' smaller entities and tried to make a hero out of 'small' entities. At the same time they were trying to be the 'big'. Thus their rhetoric was the oppposite of their Realpolitik.
In the 16th century some Europeans were definitely jealous about the fact that Ottoman Empire was a political entity with greater diversity under his rule. This was a problem for Europe.
They could nt even use christian identity as a card in the play. There were many different christian groups. And there were many christians who didn t want to live in a poor and bellicose Europe. They had better living standards under Ottoman Empire rule as in Europe. Europeans had to learn a lot about this situation. And they were intelligent enough to get their lessons from this situation. They had to work hard to change this situation. They were successfull in the end. (with many intrigues of course.) But they couldn t change the past. They couldn t delete the history. The modern idea of complete new beginning was therefore very important.

Recently France has tried to use Armenians again for his financial benefits in Europe. (Since Napalyon Bonaparte there is only one substution of 'Egalite, Fraternite, Liberte' and this is
'D argent, d argent, d argent.' :-)
With 'again' I also mean the 70ies, in a time when many Turkish diplomats in Europe were killed because of the armenian terrorrist groups in Europe.
In my view the government of France and the ambitious leaders of Armenian diaspora in France are also guilty about the assasination of Hrat Dink. An honest and mad journalist like me...
I have read yesterday his last articles and I was touched ofcourse. For the reason I have also written
things which I mustn t write maybe... I mean we had a similar situation because I was also in a majority writing for minorities in Vienna, in Europe. I know therefore it is a difficulte situation.
He was born in Anatolia, in Malatya, in 1954 and came to Istanbul when he was 7 years old. He was an Anatolian, like many have said there in Turkish TV Chanells. But what did they mean by this? I think they mean he was not from the establishment. A new comer in the mega city. He was not from the rich, integrated armenian families in the city. He was a poor child from Anatolia, being brought by his parents to Istanbul and left there in a dormitory of Armenian Protestant Church with his two brothers.
When he was young, he was 'Marxist-Leninist' as they have said it here in the 70ies for many people...But I don t think that this is a scholarly correct definition.
He was tortured I have read, I don t know if it is true...
For a while he was quiet and studied philosophy, get married, get children...In 1996 he has begun with Agos, a weekly newspaper, in two languages. I am especially thankful to him that he has written in Turkish.... He was a child from Anatolia, they said. I think this is true...Because he has fighted like an Anatolian, honest, full of energy, full of life and with a deep longing for death. You can find this yearning for death in his writings... He was an oriental...Like me.
Orient has no chances against West with his heart... Europeans fight with their brain and not with their heart... He didn t fight like an European with his brain for money, he struggled with his heart in believing in his innocence.(unfortunately sometimes like me) But innocence was not the main subject, it was not the issue... Anyone who lives in society knows that nobody is innocent...
He didn t fight for oil with his brain; he was from Anatolia, he did fight for his innocence, for earth and death and blood unfortunately...

Nobody knows till now who the killer is... Who ever the killer might be, this was not an individual case, dear Europeans... You are also guilty in this play with Turks and others... Don t try to wash yourself white again, as you have did many times in the past...
