Till now, I didn t know the names of the journalists that have been taken into custody recently without concrete reason. Today I have read in Milliyet, one of them was writing for Milliyet, his name was Nedim Şener. Now you have a link for his articles.

Everybody knows about Tuncay Özkan and Mustafa Balbay, as they were very well known opponents of the AKP government. But in the last weeks the government has shown that they couldn t bear the slightest opposition.
Most AKP politicians were from poor families with great ambivalences towards the turkish republic. They have seen and still see 'the state' as an instrument for illegitimate money and power accumulation.
I know, in Europe people think if the politicians are from poor families then they will do sth. against poverty. No way.
Now they feel themselves rich and powerful and they can t accept the greatest problem of the people: poverty. When you go outside in Istanbul, then you see young boys, actually kids, coming and wanting money from you. It was not that bad.
It is cold in Istanbul know. Too cold actually for Istanbul. But the months March and February were here always the most tricky ones of the winter. Till the end of January there was no 'real' winter in my sense.:-))
If it is cold in Istanbul, then it is really different from a European city. You see more poverty, you smell the unimaginable odeurs of things the people burn in order to get warm.
You see more hungry animals on the streets, more street kids fighting with cold and poverty.
