Aelius Aristides is a greek intellectual from Anatolia, who has written his dreams as a book
'HİEROİ LOGOİ'
in an important and critical chapter of his life. He is interesting to me because of his dreams and his illness. I didn t know that the name of famous illness of western 19th century 'neuresthania' has its roots in Anatolia. He has lived in 'Mysia' in todays Balıkesir, Bursa and Çanakkale approximately... (Well, i am not an expert in this field, I have just tried to find out, where it can be approximately according to the picture right)
He has tried to therapy himself in a manner which smacks of psychoanalysis to me...I know many people will oppose to this opinion but there are parallels in my view. Of course it was something else but still he has tried to help himself by taking his dreams
serious. To take dreams serious was the most provocative act in the 19th century for extremely patriarchal (in my view) and autoritarian medical society and it is still for most of the people...
